Opal Apple/Cranberry crisp

Opal Apple/Cranberry Crisp

I decided to use some of the free Opal apples that I got through Bzzagent, to make an apple crisp.  They held their form perfectly and provided the perfect kick of tart to the sweetness of the crisp topping.  I decided to add in dried cranberries also, I like a little bit more flavor and texture.  Everyone enjoyed the crisp and I do have to say it was nice to be able to make my crisp and leave it on the counter until I was ready to bake, and not have to worry about the apples browning.  #gotitfree #bzzagent

Recipe:
4 Opal apples. Washed, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup dried cranberries
Topping:
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 rolled oats
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold butter

Preheat oven to 350
Layer apples in an 8x8 dish, sprinkle the cranberries on top.  Mix all of the toppings together and sprinkle on top of the apples.  Bake until golden and bubbly, 30-40 minutes.  Serve with cream or ice cream or plain!
