Opal Apple/Cranberry crisp

Opal Apple/Cranberry Crisp

I decided to use some of the free Opal apples that I got through Bzzagent, to make an apple crisp.  They held their form perfectly and provided the perfect kick of tart to the sweetness of the crisp topping.  I decided to add in dried cranberries also, I like a little bit more flavor and texture.  Everyone enjoyed the crisp and I do have to say it was nice to be able to make my crisp and leave it on the counter until I was ready to bake, and not have to worry about the apples browning.  #gotitfree #bzzagent

Recipe:
4 Opal apples. Washed, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup dried cranberries
Topping:
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 rolled oats
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold butter

Preheat oven to 350
Layer apples in an 8x8 dish, sprinkle the cranberries on top.  Mix all of the toppings together and sprinkle on top of the apples.  Bake until golden and bubbly, 30-40 minutes.  Serve with cream or ice cream or plain!

Smiles for Children’s Mucinex®

I received a free sample of Children’s Mucinex® from Smiley360 in return for my thoughts and reviews on the product.  The sample arrived just in time for cold and flu season.  It wasn't too long after I got it that we put it to use.  As my son had just turned four, this was the first time that I was able to give him any type of cold medicine.  As a child I remember the angst of having to swallow the nasty cough medicine.  I was prepared to do battle to get him to drink it if need be.  Surprisingly he told me that it didn't taste that bad and he wasn't bothered drinking it.  I could definitely tell that the Mucines was working as he felt better after taking it and was up and playing within no time.  After a couple days of taking it he was on the mend and back to his rambunctious self.  I will definitely be keeping Children’s Mucinex® on hand for that next winter cold.

Orajel Single Dose Cold Sore Review

for free from Smiley360 in return for my reviews and opinions on the product.  I don't get cold sores all that often, but when I start to feel that familiar tingle I like to know I have something that works.  My son actually got a small cold sore first, so I decided to use one of my samples on him.  I put it on at bedtime and by the morning his cold sore was all but gone.  I was impressed with how quickly we saw results.  There was no mess and he didn't complain about any painful tingle associated with the medicine.  I will definitely be keeping this on hand for any future cold sores that my family may get.  Thank you Smily360 for sending me this free sample.

An Opal a Day...so they say!

I received a coupon from Bzzagent to purchase Opal Apples for free in return for my thoughts on them.  The grocery store that I regularly shop at did not carry the apples, so I checked on the list for stores.  The first 2 stores I tried, from the list, did not carry them at all.  By my fourth store I was finally able to find the apples.  My family loves apples, we go through a lot during a week, so I generally buy the apples that are on sale that week.  With my $5 coupon I was able to only purchase 4 apples.  Without the coupon this would not be an apple that I would purchase for my family, it just isn't in the budget for us.  The sticker on the apple said sweet, so I surprised that they were a bit more tart then I anticipated.  They had a nice crisp and crunch to them that my whole family enjoyed.  My boys liked the little bit of tart, but I had wished they were a little bit sweeter.  As they are labeled as a non browning apple, I left them on the counter, cut, for 3+ hours and they did not brown.  I was rather impressed with that.  So in conclusion, while the apple did taste good and didn't brown, because of the price I will probably not purchase them again.
